Coplestonians continued their best ever campaign by adding the Morrison Freight Cup to the Premier Division title they secured four days earlier against the same opposition.
It was a rather one-sided final with AFC Kesgrave setting out to contain their opponents from the start which ensured Cops had the vast majority of possession throughout the game.
The Kesgrave game plan was tested almost immediately as Cops had a goal disallowed before Drew Connick ran onto a through ball in the fifth minute and expertly lobbed keeper John Steel to open the scoring with his 33rd goal of the season.
Cops continued to press with Kieran Driver and Adam Todd having further chances before Kesgrave skipper Emmett Klipalo headed narrowly over his own bar.
Just before the half hour fine play down the left from Ash Holmes ended with his inch-perfect cross being headed wide by Connick.
Driver then had a header cleared off the line and Connick missed a great chance as he headed a Franco Mallardo cross wide at the back post. Jordan Godbold also had an effort deflected narrowly wide just on half-time.
There was no change in the pattern of play after the break as Todd soon had a goalbound effort blocked with Steel saving the follow-up.
The wave of Cops attacks continued as Kesgrave were unable to secure any sustained periods of possession despite the occasional forays of the experienced Danny Thrower.
Driver had an effort saved by Steel’s legs following excellent work from Todd before he also smothered Brad Sayer’s drive.
Kesgrave introduced strikers Callum Bale and Harry Fricker with 20 minutes to go in an attempt to change the pattern of play only for Cops to remain in the ascendancy with Steel producing his best save of the night to deny Connick.
Cops eventually grabbed a second goal as Driver headed home Franco Mallardo’s free-kick from the right-hand touchline.
Kesgrave finally had their first effort on goal right on 90 minutes when Jes Nevard’s header was pushed wide by Will Pullen via a post. However, the corner came to nothing and Cops eased home.
