Explanation as to how Sportsmanship marks are derived.

Marks are determined solely on disciplinary marks, each caution/dismissal or misconduct is given a tariff, this goes against the club and is divided by the number of games played by each club to give a total mark.

See below table of offences and tariffs awarded to each, the next column gives the rationale for the tariff.

5 Easily committed, hence low tariff
C2 C2 – (Sin Bin) – Shows dissent by word or action – Sin Bin

C2 – Shows dissent by word or action, (non-playing )

10 Obviously dissent which needs to be

banished from the game

C3 Persistently infringing the laws of the game 5 Basically, the same as C1
C4 Delays the restart of play 5 Simple offence
C5 Fails to respect the required distance at a restart 5 Simple offence
C6 Enters or re-enters the field of play without the referee’s permission 5 Simple offence
C7 Deliberately leaves the field of play without the referee’s permission 5 Simple offence
S1 Serious Foul Play 15 Out of control challenge
S2 Violent Conduct 20 Usually, a premeditated action
S3 Spitting at an opponent or official 30 Abhorrent behaviour and has no place anywhere on a football field
S4 Denies The Opposing Team A Goal Or an Obvious Goal Scoring Opportunity By Deliberately Handling The Ball 10 Minor cheating
