Leiston St Margaret’s triumph in the East Coast derby at Carlton Park.

In an entertaining match both sides struggled to put any meaningful passages of play together in the first half. The deadlock however was broken minutes from half time when a ball to the far post was misjudged by the St Margaret’s keeper and was headed home by Rob Stephenson

The second half got worse for St Margarets when another keeper error gifted Saxmundham a second goal scored by Kyle Sore

This setback galvanised St Margarets and they were rewarded when Ryan Sothhey ,No 5, netted with a glancing header at the near post

Leiston drew level when a free kick from outside the box by Aaron Newton took a wicked deflection to leave Saxmundham keeper stranded.

From then on St Margarets dominated and looked to be the only winners and it came as no surprise when Ryan Eagle came off the bench to score with a neat left foot finish to put them 3-2 into the lead.

A fourth goal came for St Margarets courtesy of a Jordan Payne finish from just inside the penalty area.

There was just time for Leiston keeper Jamie Clouting to make amends for his earlier error to tip over a Saxmundham strike late in the game.
