BIRTHDAY BOY NOTCHES BUT COPS HIT ROCK BOTTOM!
Tattingstone United 2 Coplestonians 1
(Coplestonians are sponsored by Venue 16)
Cops prolific marksman Jordan Godbold celebrated his birthday with the opening goal of the game but a second defeat for his side saw them confined to the Senior Division basement!
.
There was little to choose between the sides in the early stages but Cops keeper Ben Riddlestone was called into action as he dived full length to save a long range effort. The home side began to dominate play but Cops held firm and had their chances with Nay Woollard’s long range effort just clearing the bar being the pick of them. Both sides had the ball in the net but both were denied by an offside flag. HT 0-0
.
Straight from the kick off Cops took the lead. Linard collected the ball on the left, cut in and fired a right foot shot which was not dealt with by the keeper Hender; Jordan Godbold fired home the loose ball. Hender made amends with a fine save as Cops pressed for a second. This proved to be a decisive save as the home side gradually took control again and made the most of some good fortune.
.
Pressure on the right by Tattingstone should have resulted in a free kick for the visitors but with a foul not given and Cops unable to clear a fine curling shot flew past Riddlestone for the equaliser. The home side then took the lead direct from a superbly struck corner and it was then an uphill battle for Cops.
.
Hender saved well from Linard as Cops pressed for a share of the spoils but it wasn’t to be as Tattingstone held out and deservedly took the points.
It was a competitive game and Cops could have salvaged something from it but ultimately it was disappointing for a second week running. Next up is our bogey side, Leiston SM, at the Ipswich School Sports Centre – let’s hope for a better result
