MORRISON FREIGHT CUP & SIL PREVIEW
This weekend sees the Second Round of the Morrison Freight Cup taking centre-stage with the Senior sides entering the competition for the first time. However, this season the ties are spread out over the next two weeks though seven games are still due to take place on Saturday with a 1.30pm kick-off.
Holders Henley have an away game against a Saxmundham outfit who are going well in Division One after their promotion last season.
There is a local derby at Brickwall Meadow where Bacton from Division One host Senior opposition in Haughley.
Claydon will be looking for an upturn in fortunes and to a avoid an upset as they go to Trimley Sports and Social Club to take on Division Two side Kirton Athletic.
Two in-form sides have been drawn against each other with Sporting 87 hosting Trimley Red Devils at the Victory Ground.
Halesworth, who won the competition in the 2021/22 season, have an away tie at Wickham Market while there is another all Senior clash at the Leisure Centre as Debenham play host to Leiston St Margarets.
The other tie due to be played on Saturday is an all Division One affair with Grundisburgh taking on Woolverstone.
There is one Senior Division league game taking place and this has been switched to Sidegate Avenue due to waterlogging at Gandish Road as East Bergholt play Ransomes.
In Division Two Ipswich Athletic are still looking for their first points of the campaign as they host leaders Sporting 87 Reserves while in the Division’s other fixture Claydon Reserves welcome Great Blakenham Chequers.
Redgrave Rangers will go back to the top of Duvision Three if they can defeat Framlingham Town A. Gipping Gnats are in the promotion mix with games in hand and go to Trimley Red Devils Reserves while Ransomes Reserves host Bacton Reserves.
