Richard Friend plaque unveiled at Haughley

A large group of relatives and friends of the late Richard Friend gathered at Haughley United Football Club last Saturday to see the unveiling of a plaque to recognise the time Richard spent at the club. As a player both Saturday and Sunday and afterwards as a manager. He was a person who was special in the lives of all who knew him. A very popular person and sadly missed by his nearest and dearest. He was someone who had the highest regard for the club and all he played with. The plaque was unveiled by his wife Andrea and his sister Helen. Watching on were his mother Mary and brother David along with Richard’s children and many of his closest friends, and supporters of Haughley United. His close friends sponsored the game v Leiston St Margarets FC. Nigel Haywood and Ian Wilkinson before the unveiling told a few stories of their recollections of Richard. Personally I will remember Richard as a loyal and dependable person who loved his sport and being associated with Haughley United Football Club.
