.
Last night’s match at Humber Doucy Lane was Cops final match prior to Christmas with their next match being in the New Year when they visit Old Newton on 6th January.
There was little to choose between Cops and the visitors in the first 20 minutes as both sides showed good attacking intent in front of a good sized crowd. However, Trimley grew into the game and stretched Cops, especially on the flanks, with only a fine save from Roan Tucker keeping the scoreline blank. However, the visitors were not to be denied and a quick break down the right brought another good save from Tucker but the rebound was knocked home by Curtis Harvey.
It is fair to say that Trimley remained in the ascendancy for the remainder of the first half with Cops unable to pose a real threat. HT 0-1
After the break there was plenty of endeavour and some good football but neither side threatened to take control and score that vital goal. It remained this way until the introduction of Jonny Linard for Cops. The striker had missed the last match with a broken thumb and he immediately began to pose problems with his pace and skill. Linard burst through the Trimley defence and was unlucky to see his effort deflected wide. However, Cops did manage to break through and it was that man Jonny Linard (sponsored by JWL Sports Therapy) who fired home. There were one or two scares near the end for Cops but they held out for a great point against a very good Trimley side. At times Cops were indebted to their young keeper Roan Tucker who handled superbly throughout and gave another assured performance.

PS -a big shout out for the referee Isabel Chaplin who had a fine game in the middle along with the old boys Paul Kitson and Daryl Butcher on the lines!
