Bildeston Rangers today pulled off a magnificent victory against the present holders and Thurlow Nunn team Ipswich Wanderers to keep the SIL flag flying in the Suffolk Senior Cup. Chris Cowan scored both goals to give the SIL Senior Division team a hard earned semi final victory over the much fancied Ipswich based side.

Reflecting on the victory after the game Secretary Tim Rix said “Today’s result for a club like ours makes us all massively proud and the achievement was a real team effort”

Manager David Bart Lorimer admitted he was lost for words after the win. He added Wanderers had plenty of possession, but Bildeston came to make the game hard for their opponents and be defensively strong. A plan that worked on the day.

Bildeston Rangers have only been a Senior Club since 2018-19 and went into the game with nothing to lose and everything to gain.

No doubt the celebrations will be in full flow this evening, and they now look forward to the final against Lakenheath at Haverhill on Bank Holiday Monday with a noon kick off.

The SIL send their best wishes to all at Bildeston for their first ever Senior Cup Final and sincerely hope they can bring home the silverware.
